Western Modernization of Agriculture in Africa Produces Malnutrition
Keywords:

Abstract
Jointly established in 2006 by the Rockefeller and Gates Foundations, AGRA was meant to bring scientific agriculture to Africa. Despite large investments by 13 African states, the promised doubling of incomes has not materialized, and nutrition, biodiversity and water availability have all deteriorated. Successful agriculture in Africa must be sensitive to local conditions and build on local knowledge and experience.
