Author Guidelines

JASAP accepts English-language manuscripts within its stated aims and scope. Authors should prepare manuscripts carefully before opening a Scholardemia submission.

Scholardemia journals do not charge article processing charges (APCs).

Manuscript Types and Lengths

Research Essay is for mature work, requiring adequate explanations of the conceptual background, methodology, and data and analysis. A typical Research Essay will be under 8,000 words (including abstract, references, figures, and tables). A longer Research Essay may be accepted if the Editors deem it worth the extra space.
Review Paper is an article that presents the current state of understanding on a topic. Review Papers survey, summarize and assess previously published work and can be highly useful by introducing other scholars to the existing literature and conveying the current state of the field. A typical Review Paper has 8,000-12,000 words (including abstract, references, figures, and tables).
Narrative Review is a comprehensive, qualitative summary of the current state of knowledge on a given topic. It organises concepts, identifies trends, highlights research gaps, and outlines future directions for the field. A typical Narrative Review will be under 6,000 words (including abstract, references, figures, and tables).
Research Note is a small, often preliminary study, or descriptions of unexpected and perhaps still unexplained observations or results that can be described concisely. A typical Research Note will be under 2,000 words (including abstract, references, figures, and tables). We guarantee a fast publication path: first review within 2 weeks.
Report is a notice on poverty-related events / issues. It may analyse a topic discussed at a recent conference or symposium, for example, or an ongoing debate about a poverty-related law, policy, initiative, treaty or decision. Also in this category, we welcome analysis of current methods or practices by governmental agencies or nongovernmental organizations. Reports will normally not exceed 2,000 words. Prior discussion of a planned Report with the Editors is encouraged but does not guarantee final acceptance.
Book Review is a critical discussion of one or more recent books on a poverty-related topic. It will typically be 1000-2000 words long, but we are open to longer reviews of multiple or especially important books. We maintain a list of poverty-focused books in all languages, to which all are invited to contribute. Please check with the Editor whether specific books are already being reviewed by another author.
Opinion is a forum for the exchange of experts' views on poverty. Opinion pieces are invited by the Editors and reviewed only by them. They will typically be below 3,000 words, longer in special cases.
